Girls' Engineering Day - February 22, 2018

Calling all girls interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math! Ardent will host a special event for National Engineers Week. Thursday, February 22, 2018 is the official “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day” and in celebration, Ardent will offer free exciting, hands-on opportunities for our young aspiring engineers.

 Programs  Description

Creative Coding for Gr 2-5 

Do you like phone apps, computer games, and animation? In this class you will learn how to control animated characters by writing your own code. Have your characters dance, play music, and talk to each other. Create an interactive story or write a game!
 Robotics for Gr 2-5 Have you ever wanted a little robot pet? In this class you will get hands-on experience working with the Thymio robot and Lego WeDo kit. Learn how to program the Thymio robot to follow your hand. Create a musical device that can flash lights while it plays a song. Your imagination is the limit!
  Renewable Energy for Gr 2-5 Are you interested in solving real-world problems such as global warming and the energy crisis? In this class you will learn how the wind and sun can be used as renewable energy sources. Design your own wind turbine blades and test them out!
 Wearable Tech for Gr 5-8 Are you interested in integrating technology with fashion? In this class, you will learn how to program LEDs, build circuits, and create wearable items that incorporate these devices. Make a light-up bracelet that you can wear in the dark. Find out how you can program LEDs to flash in different patterns.
