AP Courses

Advanced coursework, taken early

Students can take Advanced Placement classes at Ardent and sit the official AP exam at their own school or a nearby test center.

On completion a student receives an Ardent transcript and is prepared for the May or June AP exam. Whether a school accepts the transcript is the school's decision; whether a college grants credit or placement depends on the AP exam score and that college's own policy.

Common questions

Can students take the AP exam at Ardent?
No. Ardent does not administer AP exams in May and June. Speak to your school counselor, or search the College Board directory for a testing site.
Will students be prepared for the AP exam?
Full completion of an Ardent AP program prepares a student for the May or June AP exam.
Who can enroll?
Most courses are for grades 9–12. AP Physics 1 and AP Physics 2 open at grade 8 for students who have the mathematics behind them. Each course lists its own grade range.
Which schools accept an Ardent transcript?
Acceptance varies by school and district. Discuss it with your school counselor before enrolling. College credit is a separate question again, decided by the college from the AP exam score.
Does an Ardent AP course earn college credit?
Not by itself. Colleges grant credit or placement on the basis of the AP exam score, and each college sets its own threshold and policy. What Ardent provides is the coursework, the transcript, and preparation for the exam.
