Through coding at Ardent, students sharpen critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and digital creativity — and build the tenacity that makes the rest of it work.

Programming

Ardent offers a streamlined curriculum to develop students' computational thinking: Python for functional programming, Java for object-oriented programming, and JavaScript for real-life applications.

Through coding, students learn problem-solving, communication and collaboration. Students also have the opportunity to take part in the Computing Olympiad or to sit the AP Computer Science exams.

Data Science and AI

Beyond programming, Ardent teaches data science and machine learning as research tools — working with real datasets, and using statistics and models to investigate a question.

Classes

The pathway

Coding pathway, grades 6 to 12. Python Level 1 (P108A) leads to Python Level 2 (P108B), then Python Level 3: Algorithms (P108C). From there the path splits: AP Computer Science Principles in Python (P208) leading to AP Computer Science A in Java (P209), or USACO Bronze leading to USACO Silver.

  • Completion of Ardent summer, fall, winter and spring sessions is considered one academic year.
