The Ardent Math Curriculum
Everything starts with math
How far a student gets in math shapes which opportunities open up later — advanced science, AP courses, computing, research.
For twenty years, Ardent has refined a math curriculum that moves students past grade level and teaches them to think mathematically.
The reason is prerequisites. Almost every advanced STEM opportunity sits on a mathematics foundation built years earlier. AP Physics sits on calculus. Research and computing sit on mathematical maturity. Students who reach those milestones early gain the freedom to explore what comes next. Students who reach them late spend high school catching up.
Accelerated Math
For the student who wants math handled.
Students learn mathematics six to twelve months ahead of school, enhanced by problem solving, so math becomes a strength rather than a limitation. They build strong foundations, move efficiently through the school curriculum, and reach the advanced courses early. Because the curriculum emphasizes both mastery and problem solving, students are also well prepared for the mathematical reasoning on gifted-program assessments, entrance exams, and standardized tests.
Math Olympiad
For the student who enjoys mathematics enough to treat it like a sport.
The goal is mathematical thinking, developed through challenge. Students cover the full school curriculum — carried twelve to eighteen months ahead — and then go further, with more time on problem solving, reasoning, and unfamiliar questions. Competitions like MATHCOUNTS, ARML, AMC and AIME are the benchmarks, the way games measure progress in a sport. Students come for the challenge — and find out what they are capable of.

Topic courses cover competition material outside the school curriculum — Counting & Probability, Number Theory, and more — taken alongside the sequence when a student is ready.
Math is where STEM begins, but talent is built through challenge. I have always viewed mathematics as a mental sport: Accelerated Math develops the fundamentals, while Math Olympiad gives students a place to train, compete, and discover how far their abilities can take them.
The Ardent method
| Part | Builds | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Mental Math | Fluency | Automatic arithmetic frees a student's attention for the actual problem. |
| Skill Builder | Skills | Procedures a student owns are what make moving a grade ahead possible. |
| Problem Solving | Reasoning | Unfamiliar problems with no set method — the part that transfers, and most of the lesson. |
| Quiz | Retention | Separates following along from doing it alone, while the gap is still small. |
| Homework | Mastery | Independent repetition after the lesson, where understanding becomes ownership. |

One curriculum, many ways to learn it
Ardent builds each course once — every lesson, video, and problem set authored as a single body of content — then delivers it through different formats. It began as printed handouts in the classroom; the same content now runs our instructor-led classes and one-to-one tutoring, and is opening to self-paced study.
In class
A cohort moves together on a set schedule, led by an instructor.
See the classesOne to one
The same curriculum at a student's own pace, with a tutor's full attention.
See tutoringSelf-paced
The same lessons, videos, and problems to work through on your own — anytime, anywhere, at your own pace.
Ask about self-paced
Because the curriculum underneath is identical, a student can move between formats — class, tutoring, on their own — without relearning or starting over.
