Planning
For the student whose strength is STEM
Ardent helps families decide which opportunities matter most, how they fit together, and when to pursue each — from middle school through the college application process.

The Ardent 3·2·1 College Planning Method
A framework for evaluating opportunities, making decisions, and building a pathway over time.
3 benchmarks of a college plan
Three sections of the college application are built years before it's filed. We plan for each from the first meeting.
Academic Rigor & GPA
The most demanding courses a school offers, with the grades to match — and rigor is judged relative to your own school's offerings. The tension every family knows: the hardest classes and a high GPA can pull against each other.
Activities
Colleges value depth, commitment, and growth over time. The strongest activity lists are built around interests that develop over several years, leading to increasing responsibility, leadership, accomplishment, or impact.
Academic Honors
Recognition earned beyond the classroom — the application distinguishes school, state, national, and international honors. Competitions, talent-search recognition, science fairs, and other pursuits build this record over years, not months.
Mrs. Li and Dr. Li have been providing me with much useful advice to follow that is specific to my son's interests and abilities. They informed me of competitions and programs out there for high school students that my son is able to take advantage of now and put them on his college applications. I really like Ardent's format of annual goal setting and quarterly reviews to keep track of the students grades and activities. They are like a caring set of parents that have high expectations!
2 activities that reward long-term commitment
Alumni often tell us they became more valuable with each passing year.
Research
Intellectual curiosity turned into accomplishment. Often the foundation for science fairs, publications, competitions, and future academic interests.
Volunteerism
Service turned into leadership. Often the foundation for responsibility, initiative, teamwork, and community impact.
For both, we begin with a student's interests and talents. We help identify the first project, provide the training and mentorship to build capability, and support continued growth as responsibility, accomplishment, and impact increase over time.
1 senior counselor, supported by a team of mentors
A student's pathway develops over many years. Courses, activities, research, service, and new opportunities all need to fit together as the student grows. One counselor reviews the whole picture with each family every quarter, and behind her is a team of mentors in research, writing, advising, and tutoring. The family gets one relationship; the plan gets a full institution.
I keep the number of families I take small on purpose — I want to know each student well. I learn what they love, help them build on it, and stay beside them through every year of the plan. Seeing my students grow more capable, and more themselves, is why I do this work.
