Honors Physics

Physics from motion and force outward—kinematics, energy, electricity, and optics.

Course overview

  • Homework: 60 minutes a week
  • Prerequisite: Math Olympiad 7 or Math 8, or placement

What you’ll learn

Motion

Kinematics and Dynamics

Describing motion first, then explaining it—the relationships between force, energy, and time that the rest of physics is built on.

Breadth

Across Physics

Electricity, optics, and an introduction to nuclear physics, so the year covers the range of the subject rather than one corner of it.

Method

Thinking Physically

The first priority is learning to think critically and scientifically about the physical environment, and to predict what it will do.
