  • Prerequisite: None — start here.

What you’ll learn

From first print to real programs

  • Write your first programs with print, input, and the math library — from “Hello, World!” to computing a hypotenuse
  • Variables and data types put to work: string slices, averages, percent change, random numbers
  • Decisions with conditions: leap years, divisibility, palindromes, Rock–Paper–Scissors
  • Loops for real computation: factorials, Fibonacci, triangular numbers, powers of two
  • Lists and dictionaries: frequency analysis, elections, Hangman, chess-piece moves
  • Mini research problems throughout: randomness, Benford's law, the probability of primes
  • A programming project and a final project, built and presented
