Regrouping factors to make tens, ×15 by halving and ÷5 by doubling, adding unit fractions in the head, and finding remainders from the digit sum alone.

The distributive property, Gauss’s trick for summing long runs, calendar arithmetic, fractions with related denominators, and the first one-step equations.

Strategy

Problem Solving

Logic tables and the box method, systematic counting of arrangements, number riddles, and fraction word problems built on part-whole models.
